Pteruges (Ancient Greek: πτέρυγες, lit.
feathers) were sets of
leather or linen strips forming a skirt-like part of
armor covering upper parts of limbs. They were worn as covers for the hips and thighs as well as epaulettes-like covers for the upper arms.
